New Instagram Features and Updates for 2024

Instagram has released a number of new features and updates designed to enhance the user experience and offer more creative and interaction tools. Here are some highlights:

1. Notes Prompts in Direct Messages

Instagram is testing a new feature called Notes Prompts. This tool allows users to start conversations in group chats with frequently asked questions or topics, facilitating a more dynamic and continuous interaction. The answers to these questions will be displayed in a panel visible to all chat members, encouraging participation and the exchange of ideas.

2. Direct Message Themes

Users can now customize their Direct Message (DM) chats with various themes. To change the theme of a chat, users should follow these steps:

  • Tap the arrow button at the top right of the feed.
  • Select a conversation from the list of chats.
  • Tap the chat name at the top and then tap “Theme”.
  • Choose the desired theme to customize the conversation.

3. AI stickers for Stories and DMs

Instagram has introduced AI-generated stickers that users can customize for their Stories and direct messages. This feature allows them to create unique stickers by simply typing in what they want the AI to generate. This tool adds an additional level of personalization and creativity to posts.

4. Zoom in Profile Photos

Users can now zoom in on profile photos directly from the Instagram app, without the need for third-party apps. All that is required is to press and hold on the profile photo from the user's profile page to view it in full size.

5. Location Tags in Notes

Instagram is testing the ability to add location tags in Notes. This feature allows a select group of users to add location tags that link to the corresponding Instagram location page. This makes it easier to share locations with friends and followers in a more interactive way.

6. Launch of the 'Threads' App

Instagram has launched a new app called 'Threads', designed to compete directly with Twitter. Threads allows users to post threads, reply to others and follow profiles of interest. Posts can include text, links, photos, videos or any combination of these formats. In addition, profiles on Threads are linked to Instagram accounts, seamlessly integrating the two platforms.

7. Group Profiles Feature

Instagram is testing a feature similar to Facebook Groups, called Group Profiles. This feature allows users to join a group profile and share Stories, Feed posts or Reels exclusively with group members. This feature seeks to encourage collaboration and collective content creation in spaces dedicated to specific interests.

8. Multiple Links in the Biography

Instagram has implemented the ability to add multiple links in the profile bio. This update makes it easier for users to share various resources and relevant links directly from their profile, eliminating the need for external tools like Linktree.

9. Scheduling Posts in the App

Finally, Instagram has added the option to schedule posts directly from the app. This feature allows users to set a specific date and time to post their content, adding convenience and improving time management for content creators.

These new features and updates are designed to give Instagram users more control and creativity in their interactions and content, improving the overall experience on the platform.
